Why study Sport?
In Sport we study the Anatomy and Physiology of the body and its adaptation to sport and exercise. The five body systems: Skeletal, Cardio-vascular, Respiratory, Muscular and Energy are researched in depth to ensure an understanding for an examination in the first year. The application of sports science to a fictional client form part of the second year controlled assessment. Coursework in Practical Sports Performance allows the student to research their two sports in depth in terms of rules, regulations, officials and skills and tactics for each. Professional Development Unit requires the student to look at sport careers in depth and complete a SWOT analysis on their own skill set.

What subjects go well with Sports Studies?
Here at SSFC you have the opportunity to study a combination of three subjects. We recommend taking Biology, Psychology, or other subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Business, Health or Applied Science. If Physiotherapy is a career aim, then A level Biology is a necessity. If a career is unknown, then general national curriculum subjects will be appropriate.
